Drive to us:
Feel like planning a family road trip? Getting to Hawke’s Bay couldn’t be easier. If you are coming from the upper North Island, you can take the Thermal Explorer Highway by reaching Taupo, then take a left onto State Highway 5, Napier-Taupo road.
You could also take the Pacific Coast Highway. This scenic drive hugs the East Coast of the North Island passing through Bay of Plenty, Gisborne then arriving in Hawke’s Bay.

There are also buses that come in and out of the Hawke's Bay region and many of them stop in the heart of Napier, beside Clive Square. From there, it is just a short walk to Dalton Street - beside the old Napier library and one more bus ride then you are in Havelock North.
Route 11 is a bus route that leaves the old Napier library and takes you right into the heart of Havelock North. This bus route runs Monday - Friday; 7:10am - 5:20pm. There are alternative routes that can take you through to Hastings and then onwards onto Havelock North if you wish to take your time.

Havelock North is at the heart of food and wine country. If wine tasting is your thing, here are a few wineries located close by worth checking out:
Black Barn Winery
They are a boutique vineyard just five minutes from the Village of Havelock North in Hawke's Bay Wine Country. Their focus is on premium Bordeaux styled red varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Their award-winning whites include Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Black Barn wines are Estate Grown and the fruit is selectively picked. With just over 25 acres many of their wines are available only through the cellar door. See more via their website.
Their winemaking seeks to gently coax the flavours and aromatics from the fruit and then to polish and showcase them in all their glory. Winemaking techniques focus on the traditional and the minimalist. www.askernewines.co.nz
